Saw this quote in one of my msn contacts, something along this line. And I thought it was very true indeed. When I first saw this quote, it reminded me of the Campcraft Competition earlier this year. It took me back to that fateful afternoon of February 28 (is the date correct?). Standing on the sidelines of the pitching area under the sorching sun proudly clothed in the black of the campcraft team shirt. Only for all of our dreams to be shattered 2o minutes later as the structure fell because of the wind. It took 3 months for them to train, and 5 minutes for the wind to destroy everything. In the aftermath of that incident, there was abit of a debate on whether we had lifted the expectations too high. There was the question of whether we should have told them that trying their best was sufficient. I disagreed.
However, I did not manage to put it through to them. I just could not find the correct expression to convey what I thought about this matter. And the abovementioned phrase perfectly summarised what I felt. I wanted them to know that its only when we aim high, to target the impossible. That we push ourselves to work harder, go further. And that was why I never regretted setting the expectation level at getting into the finals, because only when we have that goal to work towards will we push ourselves and ensure we give of our best. You simply cannot set out saying "I want to do my best" without setting any tangible target. Likewise, the rationale behind me setting clear goals for my examinations. I don't want to kid myself 7 weeks later into thinking that "I've tried my best so no matter what the result is it doesn't matter".
The last 2 days have been kind of sad, because there is almost nothing to look forward to. And as much as I try to study, there seems to be a never-ending stream of things to learn and practise, notes to write, homework to complete. But its a mere 29 days away, and time waits for no one, so study hard everyone. Its all going to be over soon.
Reminiscence the past, cherish the present, look forward to the future with hope.

When discipline is present, it is evident. It is the precise control of every aspect of one's self. It is the bedrock of success.
